Elemental Mirror

(download)

A while back, I smashed the driver's side mirror of my car against a concrete column in a parking garage. Oops.

I called The local Honda dealership, and discovered that they wanted over $300 for the mirror plus labor. Amazon wanted $40 for the mirror. Based on what Honda was charging in labor, I was expecting the installation to be a pain in the ass.

The new mirror arrived yesterday, so I decided to tackle the installation tonight. Gathering my tools, I settled in for some quality garage time.

It took 5 minutes. There was one small plastic triangle panel to remove from the inside of the door, three small nuts, and one wiring harness.

How the hell does the Honda dealership justify $200 in labor for that?

Looks like I'll have to break something else to get that quality garage time.

Apple Jokes Rock

A friend of mine just posted this on my Facebook wall, so I thought I'd share...

Apple does it again!

Apple announced today that it has developed a breast implant that can store and play music. The iTit will cost from $499 to $699, depending on cup and speaker size. This is considered a major social breakthrough, because women are always complaining about men staring at their breasts and not listening to them.

My response?

Motorboating? There's an app for that.

Xcode Breaks iTunes Sync Services

I tried syncing my iPhone today, and was greeted by two different warning messages.

"iTunes was unable to load data class information from Sync Services. Reconnect or try again later."

"iTunes could not back up the iPhone ... because the backup session failed."

WTF?!

Some Googling led me to several posts regarding it, and the common thread was the new Xcode install available in the Mac App Store. Installing this software seems to break sync services with iTunes and your iOS devices.

There is a fix, though.

I followed the instructions there, and voila! Everything is syncing fine again.
